That’s big news for the Omaha ice skating community. Yes, July 28 to August 2 nearly 1000 figure skaters from throughout the US will converge on Omaha to participate in various sporting events in the National State Games of America. Historically, the figure skating events have had the highest participation. Skating events will be held take at both the Ralston Arena and Moylan Ice Plex in Tranquility Park and include free skating, ice dance, group showcase, theater on ice and synchro. Opening Ceremonies that feature an Olympic-style parade of athletes, high-flying theatrics with a patriotic flare will take place July 31 at Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium. Admission to this 5-day event is $5/day for adults, $2/day for students ages 6-18 and free for kids 5 and under. An all event super pass that includes the Opening Ceremony can be purchased for $20.
